Win a Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season Blu-ray!

Winter is coming… And if you want to be ready for the second season premiere of Game of Thrones on HBO, you need to be all caught up on season one. I happen to have an extra Blu-ray copy of Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season so I thought it might be fun to give it to one of my lucky readers!

Here’s how you can enter to win:

The Rules

1) You must be following me on Twitter (@scottneumyer) or be my Facebook (facebook.com/scott.neumyer) friend or subscriber. If you’re not following me on one or the other, you can’t win. Sorry!

2) Open to US and Canada residents only.

3) Contest will run until 12:01 am Tuesday morning (March 6). I will randomly select a winner on Tuesday and ship the Blu-ray out on the same day.

4) Up to three entries for each individual only. You can enter three times by “Liking” the article, Tweeting the article, and Retweeting. See below details.

Tweeted. The interesting thing about ‘Walking Dead’ is that the goriest scenes are usually bloodless. They omit it so you can see the organs and chunks of flesh. They only get liberal with the blood when they want to imply gore.

“Plus, it’s hard to show a bloodless beheading, right?”

‘Prince of Persia’ has a few bloodless beheadings. In that case, the death feels awkward because you become very aware of the complete lack of blood.

They aren’t really that uncommon. Many movie and TV beheadings are bloodless.

Even slasher flicks often choose to have bloodless beheading if they want to focus on the head flying rather then the headless body it left behind. When done well, you don’t even notice but when done poorly, it can kill a scene by making the victim feel inhuman.

Facebook “liked” it! Gotta say, bloodiest scene for me in The Walking Dead was in the first season where Glen and Rick draped themselves in zombie guts to blend in. Blech!

It looks gorgeous in 1080p. Definitely getting American Horror Story as well and hopefully Game of Thrones, True Blood and Dexter soon. Thanks for the cool contest.
